ACT 2
After the ghost’s revelation, Hamlet begins to be very strange, and many people at Court suspect that his behaviour derives from his love for Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius.
Her father and her brother think Hamlet doesn’t really love her, so Ophelia has sent back his letters and has refused to see him. The king and the queen don’t think Hamlet’s behaviour derives from his love so they decide to send Rosecranz and Guildenstern to spy on Hamlet. They have to discover the true cause of his behaviour.
In the same time, a travellin company of players arrive at the castle. Hamlet welcomes them and asks them to act a part of a play where Pyrrus killed Priam to avenge his father, Achilles. Hamlet asks the first player to act a play called “The Murder of Gonzago” the day after, inseting a short passage that he himself will write to unmask Claudius.
