PROPOSIZIONE FINALE
La proposizione finale, che indica il fine per cui si compie l'azione della reggente, è espressa:
UT/NE [UT NE, NE QUIS…] + CONGIUNTIVO PRESENTE (se nella reggente c'è un tempo principale)
UT/NE [UT NE, NE QUIS…] + CONGIUNTIVO IMPERFETTO (se nella reggente c'è un tempo storico)
In italiano si può tradurre in:
- forma esplicita: AFFINCHÈ, PERCHÉ, ACCIOCCHE + CONGIUNTIVO
- forma implicita: DI, A, PER + INFINITO

ES1: Exercitus ut bellum vinciam pugnat.
L'esercito combatte per vincere / affinchè vinca la guerra.
ES2: Exercitus ut bellum vinceret pugnabat.
L'esercito combatteva per vincere / affinchè vincesse la guerra.
………
➢ Quando in una finale affermativa c'è un aggettivo o un avverbio comparativo, la congiunzione ut è di frequente sostituita dall'ablativo neutro quo.
➢ Se la finale affermativa è introdotta da UT EO si traduce AFFINCHÈ CON CIÒ.
➢ Il ne può essere seguito da altre particelle: NE QUIS (pronome) e NE NULLUS (aggettivo) [perché nessuno]; NE QUIS (neutro) [perché nulla]; NE UMQUAM [perché non]; NE USQUAM [perché in nessun luogo].

COME TROVARE LA PROPOSIZIONE FINALE
La finale può essere espressa in altri modi:
1. UT (NE) + CONGIUNTIVO [vedi sopra]
2. GERUNDIO/GERUNDIVO AL GENITIVO + CAUSA o GRATIA
3. FRASE RELATIVA AL CONGIUNTIVO
4. PARTICIPIO PRESENTE/FUTURO F
5. AD + ACCUSATIVO DEL GERUNDIO/GERUNDIVO
6. SUPINO IN "UM" (VALORE ATTIVO) [verbi di movimento] v
Legati missi sunt ut auxilium peterent.
Legati missi sunt petendi causa auxilium.
Legati missi sunt qui auxilium peterent.
Legati missi sunt auxilium petentes.
Legati missi sunt auxilium ad petendum.
