CEZANNE
They opened a new approche to art, they wanted to see the world as the children. Cézanne was a contemporary of the impressionists, but he went beyond their interests in the individual brushstroke and the fall of light onto objects, to create, in his words, ``something more solid and durable, like the art of the museums.'' He used the pointinisme, made by small point, eache one in a different colour. He also was a portaryer. He really gave attention to the object. He wanted to show something more about it, and he studyied people as object without using their feelings.Madame cezanne: On his first Paris trip, he met Marie-Hortense Fiquet, the model who eventually became his wife and the mother of his only child. She never liked Provence, and she never understood her husband. The feeling was mutual. Cézanne didn't understand women at all and she was no exception. She didn't like his pictures much either. She preferred the city lights to the south of France, so they lived apart much of the time. She dutifully posed for her husband during summers in Aix, but these portraits show her with a remote, inscrutable look, with eyes that never meet the viewer's. The lady with the coffee machine:we can see how he gave the same attention in the studies of the body of the lady and the coffe machine. The portrait is constructed according to a geometric modulation of volume (especially evident in his handling of the coffeepot and cup) that makes it one of the most significant works from this period of his career.
VAN GOGH
Difficult life, unquiet personality. His father was a protestant and he did not attend normal school. He wanted to work as a volontier to help poor people. In this period he started drawing and painting poor people at work. His models were poor people, slums, hard working peasants; he painted landscapes and town views, all in dark, somber colors(potetoes eaters:poor people all around a table eating only poteatos). His brother Theo became teh director of an art gallery in paris so van gogh decided to spend time in paris to study art and meet painters, the impressionist. He was shoked by the used of colours in their composition, so he changed his attitude, discovering also the japanese art.
