Esempi: This book is mine (questo libro è mio); the house is yours (la casa è sua); the dog is his (il cane è suo di lui); the pen is hers (la penna è sua di lei); the milk is its (il latte è di esso); the class is ours (la lezione è nostra); the cars are yours (le macchine sono di loro); the homework is theirs (il compito è di essi).

*raramente si usa il possessivo di it (its), al suo posto si preferisce usare il genitivo sassone oppure of the, ripetendo il nome del possessore; esempi: it's my dog and this is the dog's milk o it's the milk of the dog (è il mio cane e questo è il suo latte).

midnight - mezzanotte

Esempi con preposizioni: at down (all'alba); in the morning (in mattinata); at noon (a mezzogiorno); in the afternoon (nel pomeriggio); in the evening (di sera); at night (di notte); at midnight (a mezzanotte).

I giorni della settimana, i mesi e le stagioni

Sunday (domenica), Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

• i nomi della settimana e dei mesi dell'anno si scrivono con la lettera maiuscola

• la preposizione che si usa con i giorni della settimana è on; esempi: I go to class on Monday (vado a lezione il lunedì).

January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.

• la preposizione che si usa con i nomi dei mesi è in; esempio: Christmas is in December (il Natale è a dicembre).

spring (primavera), summer (estate), fall o autumn (autunno), winter (inverno)

• la preposizione che si usa è in; esempio: in winter it's very cold (d'inverno fa molto freddo).
