Witchcraft and Black Magic
Witchcraft and black magic are just, in my opinions, a way that our ancestors used to explain the existence of the sufferance and disgraces. In rural community in the medieval period , when people get ill or when all the cultivations were destroyed by atmospheric agents, medics, preachers and common people believed that there was a witch in their community. But all the girl that were burned and tortured in those period were just unlucky, certainly they weren’t witch!
I’ve done many séance , but I would not define it magical rites. I believe in the eternal life of our souls, so there is nothing of magic for me in the communication with people who are died: I don’t think that all the things that we can explain have to be called magic.
There some action that we do without believing in it, for example: who, watching the marvellous fountains of Rome, has never thrown in it a coin? I’ve done it, and I express too a desire while the coins was falling in the water but it’s just a romantic rite! I don’t really expect that my desire come true just throwing a coins into a fountains, but I admit that it would be the most wonderful and the easiest way to make our dreams come true!
The midnight means nothing to me it’s just an hour like the others in day, but when I was little I associated this moments of the day with the moments when the death come back to frightened people who are sleeping.
Halloween it’s not a celebration that makes part of my culture, it’s a Celtic tradition witch has been imported in USA. In Italy there a lot of party the night of 31 December but just to enjoy ourselves. In my homeland this day it’s a sacred celebration, the day when we remember all the people who are died, but it’s a celebration very different from the one that there is in America!
Theatre and Cinema
The cinema is the way of communication that explode in the XX century, it capture our feelings, out sight, our hearing. It is probably the evolution of the theatre, but it is far away from it. I like cinema and theatre both, but unfortunately I can’t see theatrical show very often, because where I live there are few show and usually in dialect. I would see the ancient Greek tragedy, or Latin comedy, or musicals of Broadway! I love cinema too, especially director like Almodovàr, Moretti or Muccino, I love Italian comedy too, but there are few good directors who don’t need to use beautiful woman and sex to interests the public. It’s something that charm me in the worlds of theatre, I think that the emotions of the actors are clearer than in the cinema, it’s hardest to enchanting people without extraordinary special effects! Unfortunately I can’t see a lot of film at the cinema, because there are few chose so I prefer see home video.
The last film that I’ve seen at the cinema is “Autumn in New York”: I usually go to see a film for the actor of the director or just if the spot about it intrigue me: this time I went to see this film trailed by my friends! It is an American film about an impossible love story between a charming adult man, Richard Gere, and a shy young artist, Wynona Rider. The film it’s not boring but I miss surely of originality! The public could preview the end of the story after have seen fifty minutes of the film! Richard Gere, play himself like in the most of the films: successful, beautiful, rounded by marvellous single, who feel in love with the shy original fragile girl.
The only star of the film is surely Wynona Rider, too if her characters don’t give her the possibility to show her full qualities of actress, she is able to charm the public without extraordinary wears, her beautiful is simple and direct. But unfortunately their classic love is destined to be destroyed by the terrible cancer that killed her, although all the medical cure that she receive.
The last time that I went to the theatre was Romeo and Juliet, the historical tragedy of the unfortunately love of two young in Verona written by William Shakespeare. It’s the story of the love of Romeo and Juliet who belong to two powerful family of Verona, Capuleti and Montecchi, who are eternal enemies. Their love is impossible, so after the meeting of a night, the marriage, the exile of Romeo they decide to die for their unlucky love.
The actor, who decide the fortune of every shows, delude me very much: Romeo is the classical beautiful young man, but in his voice, in his eyes there is no expression, it don’t communicate to me any feelings and the same thing is for Juliet. But I have been charmed but the character of Mercuzio, excellent played, although it was very hard: he is Romeo best friend that died to defend him. I generally liked this shows, because I understand that is hard to face all the representation that the cinema have done of it!
My Childhood
My special friend, since I was 4, was a little every time smiling girl, that I met when we join the same kindergarten. We grew up together because we study in the same schools since we were 14. Now I often met her, but we’re not as in confidence as when we were! I spent with her the most of the afternoon of my childhood!
I was extraordinary in every sports, especially in swimming! I joined a school and few days later I was able to swim yet! I was extraordinary and when I was 12 I had to be introduced in an agonistics career. Unfortunately the study make my dreams impossible to become true!
I never hate one of my relative but I remember that I loved spend all the three months of summer holidays with my grand mother in a rural village near Rome, where I had friends and I could run, built little hut and spend time getting in touch with animals.
The saddest moments of my childhood that I remember has been when my mother had to be operated and I had to move from my house, because my father have to work and I was too little to stay home alone. I spend those days in my grand mothers house, but I would just come back home! I never talk with my mother because usually my father called her and when she came back I was surely the happiest in my house! I miss the smell of coffee that ever day woke me up, the music and the sound of the voice of deejays of the radio that she used to listen to!
But the point of contact between my childhood and my adolescence were the wonderful tree who was on the river, I spend there lot of time talking, laughing, joking and sometimes crying with my actual best friend. Few months ago we come back to our trees and we discovered that he had been pulled down! It had been terrible for us!
