In 1951 France, Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg, the Netherlands and Italy sign the treaty of Paris and founded the European coal and steel community.
In 1957 whit the treaty of Rome the same countries founded the ECC (European Economic Community) aimed at marking European trade easer and cheaper by reducing the taxes to be paid when goods are transported between member states At the same time, EURATOM (European Atomic Energy Community) had the aim in exploitation atomic nuclear energy.
In 1973 the United Kingdom, Ireland and Denmark join the Community.
In 1979 the European Monetary System is established to reduce exchange rate fluctuations and create “monetary stability in Europe”. In the same year for the first time the people elected the European Parliament.
In 1986 The single European Act is signed committing the member countries to create a single market.
In 1990the Germany join the EC.
In 1992 the same countries sign the treaty of Maastricht
In 1993 the Maastricht treaty comes into force and the EC changes its name to European Union (EU)
Euro’s value was fixed an first January. It will became the single European currency starting from first January 2002.
