The Life of Daniel Defoe
Daniel Defoe was born in London in 1660 and he was a Nonconformist, in fact he refused to the doctrine of the Church of England.
He was educated at a Dissenting academy where he received a broad education.
He become journalist for an important periodical, the Review, but in 1719, at the age of 58, he turned to novel writing and published “The life and strong adventures of Robinson Crusoe,of York, Mariner”, then he continued to write until his death in 1731.
Defoe wrote for the middle class,so for merchants,artisans and bankers that were growing important in this period.
