Percy B. Shelley: OZYMANDIAS
This is a Petrarchian sonnet.
We have 3 speaker: the poet, the traveller and the faraon.
After line 8 we have the description of the passions.
Il potere causa: passioni, egoismo, arroganza, violenza, ambizione, tirannide e disprezzo.
Il tempo e la natura distruggono la vanità delle passioni umane.
We have a shift at line 8, before we have a life description after and after a situation of hirony.
C’è un contrasto tra la tirannide e le rovine della statua che rappresentano la realtà.
There isn’t verbal hirony but we have a situation of hirony.
Abbiamo suoni duri nella prima parte e nella seconda suoni più delicati.
We have a sort of moral: the nature doesn’t need to the terrible event but nature distroy with calm, little by little.
