The curriculum vitae
What is a CV ? Today if we want to get a job there are many ways but we will certainly have to prepare a CV (curriculum vitae-Latin for ‘life story’) and a cover letter that we may send through traditional mail or e-mail. A CV is the main document when applying for a job, it is a short account of our education, employment background, qualifications and it includes our contact information (address, phone number, e-mail address…).

Where do we find CV formats? We can find CV formats on the internet or in books. Sometimes companies provide their own application form to applicants so that they can obtain the same information about all the candidates. These forms are called ‘standard application forms’ (SFA).

What do we include in a CV? Our CV should only contain relevant information about:
• PERSONAL DETAILS (name, home address, phone number, mobile number, e-mail address, date of birth).
• EDUCATION (Give name of the schools and places, years when you attended-frequentare-them and final marks)
• WORK EXPERIENCE (Start-inizia- with your recent-recente- job, then in a chronological order give-dare/fornire-the name of the companies, places and addresses, your position and what you did in those jobs.
• INTERESTS (Incude your hobbies and those activities which-che-may help-possono aiutare-the employer understand what type of person you are.
• SKILLS (List-elencare- your abilities in foreign languages, computer skills.
• REFERENCES (Include the name of two people who can give information about you. Indicate their position, addresses and phone number)
