Bront: she wrote only one novel during her life but it was a masterpiece speaking about poetic, mystic and romantic feauture. She considered the poet a link between human and trascendental word.

Plot: the headline of the novel is Wuthering Heights and the plot is quite complicate, it involves two generations. The protagonist is the hero Heathcliff, a parentless picked up by Mr. Earnshow and grown with his own children, Catherine and Hindley.
Heathcliff falls in love with Catherine but one day he overhead that the girl considered the marriage degrading for her. He moved out and returned three years later with a lot of money and still in love with catherine. She is now married with Edgar Linton and she has a child, Cathy. Heathcliff has married Linton's sister and has a child too, Linton. Hindley has lost all his moneyand so the protagonist forces a marriage between catherine son and his own son, but this one dies. Heathcliff also dies, failing his wish to reunite him with Catherine.

Structure: it is not based on a normal chronological sequence of events. The narration starts at the end of the story when a Mr Lockwood during the night at wuthering Height disturbed by the scratching of a branc, try to remove it, but he is touched by ice-cold fingers of the ghost of Catherine (ghotic element). Later Lockwood asks to his housekeeper the story of Heathcliff and this rappresent the bulk of the novel. It start in the past and finish in the present.
Time: It doesn't follow a chronological development. It moves together with the memories.
2 Section: the firstis centred around Heathcliff and Catherine rapresents the romantic and imaginitive part; the second centred around young Catherine and Hareton, shoes the mature and natural part of love.
Indirect narrative technique: two story tellers: nelly who racounts past events and Lockwood who starts and concludes the story. two different kinds of reality and culture.
Romanticism: appears in the love theme, in the nature, in heathcliff(dark-haired,wild, demonic)
Realism: in the social aspect, in the description of the setting, in the conflict between two cultures and social classes
Gothicism: dreams, belief in ghost, superstitions, prophecies, presence of something supernaturale. the trasparent windowpane emphasised the separation between human and alien. In the end fantastic and real are reconcile.
Passion: strong and uncontrollable element force of nature, starts when H. and C. are still young, grow with them and survives death. It is an impulse
