Earth has not anything to show more fair:
Dull would be of soul who could pass by
A sight so touching in its majesty:
This city now doth, like a garment, wear simile(similitudine) personification(personificazione)
The beauty of the morning;silent bare,
Ships,tower,domes,theatres,and temples lie
Open unto the fields,and to he sky;
All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.
Never did sun more beautifully steep
In his first splendour,vaey,rock or hill;
Ne’er saw I,never fet, a calm so deep! First person(the poets show us is feelings)
The river glideth at his own sweet will: personification
Dear God!the very houses seem asleep; personification
And all that mighty hert is lying still!

Traduzione
La terra non ha niente di così bello da mostrare
Sarebbe insensibile l’animo di chi passerebbe senza notare
Una vista così toccante nella sua maestà
Come fa adesso la città, come un vestito,indossa
La bellezza del giorno;il silenzio,spoglia,
le navi,le torri,le cupole, i teatri,i templi si trovano
si apre sui campi, e al cielo;
Tutto brilla e risplende nell’aria senza fumo.
Il sole non ha mai inondato una bellezza così
Nel suo primo splendore, e valli,le rocce le colline
Non ho mai visto,non ho mai provato una calma così profonda!
Il fiume scorre dolcemente secondo la sua volontà:
caro Dio,le case stesse sembrano svegliarsi
e tutto il cuore forte si trova immobile.
