Dear Marie
First let me introduce myself. My name’s Bill Reynolds and I’m from London. I’m 21 years old and at the moment I’m still studying Modern Languages. I’m taking my final exams next month. After that I’ll have a few months free, so I’m going to look for a job to earn a bit of money.
I saw your advertisement in a magazine while I was waiting for a dental appointment. The expedition sounds very exciting and I’d really like to join the group. I love travelling and I’ve been to several countries in Europe and to the United States, too, but I’ve never been to Africa before.
If I was accepted to go on the trip I’m sure I would be a useful member of the group. I can speak three languages – English, French, and Spanish – and I like meeting other people. I can cook quite well and I can play the guitar, too. I passed my driving test a couple of years ago, but I’m afraid I don’t know very much about cars, so I wouldn’t be much help with repairing the car if it broke down.
I hope you will consider me for a place on the tour and I look forward to hearing from you.
