BROCHURE / TOUR

Scotland can be considered one of the most picturesque and impressive countries in the North of Europe. Its amazing and colourful landscapes have always inspired famous painters and poets, and musicians too. They are undoubtedly the ideal place for those who wants to spend a fantastic holiday, but also loves history and above all traditions.

So, if you want to spend your holiday in this idyllic and relaxing country, we can suggest a five day tour through the main cities and tourist locations of Scotland.

On the first day you will reach Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. It is a historic, cosmopolitan and cultured city, which always hosts international festivals and where there are a lot of art galleries. You will have a guided tour of it and you will visit the medieval Old Town with high and narrow houses and the Georgian New Town, characterized by elegant and geometric buildings.

Above the city stands the Castle, the landmark of this capital. It boasts more than 1000 years of history, even if archaeological excavations reveal that the volcanic rock presented a settlement on its summit even during the Iron Age.

From all points of the Castle you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of the city and the mountains around the area.

Glasgow, the second town of Scotland, boasts a long history and a lot of buildings presenting examples of Victorian architecture.
On the second day you will have a sightseeing tour of the city and you will see important and beautiful buildings such as the Cathedral and the Necropolis, the Trades Hall of Glasgow, the City Chambers and Hutchesons' Hall.

Scotland is famous because of the ruins of numerous medieval castles, which you can find everywhere in the country. They are usually situated on the top of hills or on lake shores.

On the third day you will reach Inverness, a little town in the very north of Scotland situated near the famous Loch Ness, a lake where a monster called Nessie is believed to live. In the afternoon you will have free time to visit the town by yourself.

On the morning of the fourth day you will have the opportunity to visit Loch Ness and enjoy the beautiful panorama of the lake. You can also visit an exhibition about Nessie, which collects all the proofs and material about the existence or not of the monster.

Scotland is also famous for its products, first of all Whisky. On the afternoon of the fourth day you will have the privilege of entering a distillery and enjoying a guided tour of it, discovering the procedures and the transformations which turn malt into good whisky.

If you will have the opportunity to travel thorough Scotland in summer, you have to see the famous Highland Games, the most important Scottish tradition which take place every year in different towns such as Inverness, Cowal and Braemar.

The different games have strange names such as Shot Putting, The Tug of War, Tossing the Caber and the Highland Fling. The event is usually accompanied by parades in traditional costumes and by dances.

Kilt is the name of the traditional skirt, worn even by men. Every clan used to have its own tartan, which is the design in different colours of the kilt.

These are other images of the amazing landscapes of Scotland. I hope you enjoyed this presentation and this land, because Scotland is really a magic and beautiful country which is worth being visited.
